FASHION: 16 YEAR-OLD, Nyasha Matonhodze, new face of LOUIS VUITTON

Zimbabwean-born, British-raised model Nyasha Matonhodze is only 16 years old, but she’s already laying the foundation for a promising career. The rising star has been chosen to be the face of Louis Vuitton’s fall/winter advertising campaign, following the footsteps of stars like Madonna and Scarlett Johansson.

Earlier this year, the up-and-comer was booked by Vuitton's creative director, Marc Jacobs, to appear in their autumn/winter 2011 catwalk show at Paris Fashion Week, starring alongside veteran models Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell. For the print campaign she was photographed in a vintage car at a disused Brooklyn aerodrome.

Matonhodze, who is Zimbabwean but grew up in the UK, won a modeling contest in 2009. Since then, she’s become one of fashion’s hottest new models.
In her debut season she walked for Louise Gray, Clements Ribeiro and Jonathan Saunders during London Fashion Week. Spring 2011, while in Paris she walked for Loewe, Emanuel Ungaro, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and Louis Vuitton.
The label’s creative head, Marc Jacobs, and photographer Stephen Meisel put together the campaign for Vuitton’s latest collection seen below.

Matonhodze has previously appeared in Teen Vogue and Harper's Bazaar.
