The queen of Hip-Hop/Sou lMary J Blige has unveiled a new song called “Miss Me With That” which is taken from her upcoming 10th studio album entitled “My Life II, The Journey Continues also known as “My Life II” that will be out on September 3rd, 2011 via Geffen.
Without much effort the soul singer from The Bronx delivers a pretty solid RnB track that could have been titled Miss Me With That Bullsh*t that makes us think about her “No More Drama” era, where using an unsophisticated beat produced by Harvey Mason (who often works with R.Kelly which would explain the late 90′s early 2000 feel to the song), she puts her scumbag of a lover who cheated/used her on blast.
This is miles away from the “PMS” songstress best work, but the simple production, her polish yet powerful voice work great on the song.
While we were are bit disappointed by “Looking For Someone to Love Me” which also disappointed on the charts, we are pleased by the other cuts from My Life II, The Journey Continues thus far and beyond ecstatic by the names of some of the producers such as Underdogs, Kanye West, Babyface, Salaam, Raphael Saadiq, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and Ryan Leslie who are contributing on the CD.
If these people are able to capture the “Beautiful Scars” singer essence and bring her to her real RnB roots where she bares her soul on every track, this album will be every interesting.
